enthralled en route

i said i wud give detailed travel info on my earlier post, but as no one cares about that, i wont. if u want, let me know in the comments section.
just wanna say that a train journey in the NJP-Alipurduar route is pretty enthralling. if one has heard of the hill-station Darjeeling, they would know that to go there by train, the major train station is NJP. So if u ever decide to visit Darjeeling, i would recommend u make plans for a train journey in this route. Also, at the end of this train route, there are places like Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary to visit.

apart from what u see in these photos, there are two tunnels of moderate length, and while the train passes through these tunnels, the entire compartment is darkened!
There are tea plantations at a short distance from the railway tracks..
There are dense forests, and of course all that u see here..

i hav never taken the entire train journey end-to-end, heck i can't even recall having visited Alipurduar as a teen... but i remember having visited the wildlife sanctuary as a kid..

reminiscences apart, the things which are must for a journey in this route are-
  • u ought to board a train before 8am from NJP to enjoy the beauty of the area at the fullest
  • u gotta take a seat on the left side, coz that side is filled with more spectacular landscapes.
  • u MAY hav to travel in non-AC compartments
  • on a more general note, always be clear about ur travel plans

You're such a tease! What happens next?? Love the pix - fabulous scenery, so much green and blue. Does it always look like this? OR is it the wet season??

here's an edited version of one photo, with an original line by me.. flickr

@Red Nomad OZ as much as i'd hav liked something to happen, nothing significant happened after this.. i reached home, viewing the scenery.. i stayed there for about 5 days, and then i came back to calcutta..
And i have a really very ugly post from last year, with morphed photos.. featuring almost the same scenery. Also, the rainy season was almost over when i had made the visit..

@Prajakta what a pleasant surprise! i thought u had all forgotten about blogging.. but nice to hear from u again.. actually i shouldn't be complaining about u.. everybody takes a break..

and ya the blog of note was a mere formality.. only few hav been consistently commenting. and because i am not selling ads on my blog, unless people show their feelings, all this will be very monotonous..

if u want i can add u to the mailing list of this blog, that is u get a mail everytime a new post is published.. [emailed the same]
